Achraf Lazaar has struggled to make an impact at Newcastle United.

Paulo Dybala (R) of Juventus is challenged by Achraf Lazaar of Benevento during the Serie A match between Juventus and Benevento Calcio on November 5, 2017 in Turin, Italy.

Newcastle United want to offload Achraf Lazaar in the summer transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.

It has been reported that Newcastle are hoping to move on Lazaar before the window closes at the end of the month.

The 26-year-old left-back has reportedly been told by Magpies’ manager Rafael Benitez that he does not have a future at the Premier League club.

The Northern Echo has also claimed that Lazaar is more likely to move overseas, and that his representatives are trying to move him to a club in Italy.

Disappointing Newcastle United spell

Lazaar has been on the books of Newcastle since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Palermo for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £2 million.

The 26-year-old left-back has struggled to make an impact at St. James’ Park and was able to play just 37 minutes in the Championship during the 2016-17 campaign, according to WhoScored.

The Morocco international defender spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Benevento in Italy, making six starts and three substitute appearances in Serie A in the process, according to WhoScored.
