Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is said to want to bring Joe Allen to St. James’ Park.

According to a report in The Sun, Newcastle United are after Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen.
Rafael Benitez has made no secret of his desire to see more quality added to Newcastle’s squad next season.
The Magpies boss wants to bring in a number of additions, to ensure that his team is in better shape next term.

And Newcastle are now said to have Allen on their wishlist, with Stoke’s relegation confirmed.
The Potters will be playing Championship football next season, and Allen is expected to be in demand.
Newcastle are far from the only side interested in the Welshman, with West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Swansea City and Sevilla also keen.

If Newcastle are to sign Allen, the central midfielder would have to become their record signing, as he is valued at £20 million by Stoke.
Allen would add depth to Newcastle’s central midfielder options, and would be in competition with the likes of Mohamed Diame, Jonjo Shelvey, Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden for a first-team place.
