If Benitez remains in charge at St. James’ Park, it is claimed that Lascelles is likely to stay on Tyneside.

However, if the Spanish boss departs then it could be that Lascelles also seeks a move to pastures elsewhere.

That could leave some Everton supporters hoping that Sam Allardyce is not the only manager to depart this summer.

A large quantity of Everton fans are hoping that Allardyce leaves Goodison Park, but Benitez’s departure could also benefit them.

Everton are said to be lining up £25 million offer for Lascelles, who has impressed their scouts over the season.

The Chronicle suggests that bid will be too low, as Newcastle value the centre-back much higher.

But if Benitez leaves it may make Lascelles more willing to move on, and that could be good news for Everton in their pursuit of the Magpies’ man.
