Newcastle United are looking for a replacement for Rafael Benitez at St. James’ Park.

It was expected that Newcastle may put Neil Redfearn in temporary charge following the departure of Rafael Benitez from St. James’ Park.
However, Dawson’s name has now been thrown into the hat, with Redfearn potentially working as his assistant.
Newcastle are set to start pre-season soon and they still do not have a manager in place, after Benitez’s contract expired.
Dawson has worked as Newcastle’s under-23 boss and is currently head of their academy coaching set-up, but he may receive a temporary promotion.

Although Dawson isn’t set to land the first-team job permanently he may have to take control of training as Newcastle prepare for the new season.
That is far from ideal for the Magpies, as Dawson’s ideas may not be the same as whoever takes over on a permanent basis from him.
At the moment Newcastle are linked with a host of names, but it is not clear who Mike Ashley’s first choice to take over from Benitez is.
