According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is increasingly confident of securing the services of Steve Bruce from Sheffield Wednesday.

Newcastle owner Ashley reportedly wants to appoint Bruce as the club’s new manager following the departure of Rafael Benitez.

It has been reported that talks between both parties have progressed well over Thursday night.

Leaving Sheffield Wednesday

Bruce was appointed the Wednesday manager in January 2019, and the former Sunderland boss almost guided the Owls to the Championship playoffs last season.

There is a lot of potential at Wednesday, and it will be a disappointment for the Championship club’s fans if he leaves this summer.

Good managerial appointment for Newcastle United?

Bruce is one of the best managers around, and the former Aston Villa and Hull City boss is hugely experienced.

While Bruce may not be a big-name manager like Benitez, he is very good at what he does, and he will be a good managerial appointment for Newcastle given the current circumstances.
