Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United side were interested in signing Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle United earlier this summer.

West Ham were linked with a £25 million move for the centre-back, and Lascelles’ start to the season has led to concern around Newcastle over his future.
Lascelles sat out of Newcastle’s last match against Chelsea, after an alleged training ground dispute.
The defender reportedly disagreed with Rafael Benitez’s tactics to play with three centre-backs, rather than in his side’s usual 4-2-3-1 shape.
Lascelles is said to have made up with Benitez over his differences, but Newcastle are growing concerned that he could look to facilitate a move to West Ham or elsewhere.

West Ham are known to be big admirers of the English centre-back, who led Newcastle to safety last season.
And, given that West Ham’s defence has looked shaky so far this term, it would not be a massive surprise if Manuel Pellegrini’s side did come back in for Lascelles in January, if the opportunity to sign him did arise.
