French defender Bacary Sagna will be in demand in the summer transfer window, with several Premier League clubs vying for his signature.

The 34-year-old former Arsenal and Manchester City defender is out of contract and is available on a free transfer.

According to reports from the Daily Star, a trio of Premier League clubs – Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Southampton – are all interested in signing him. Hull City, who are relegated to the Championships, have also been linked with Sagna.

The experienced defender was on £85k-a-week at The Etihad, and it remains to be seen whether he takes a pay-cut to continue playing in the Premier League.

Sagna was linked with a possible return to Arsenal, but that option appears to be a long shot. But, the French defender won’t be short of offers, with Daily Star reporting that he may also consider approaches from clubs outside England.

Sagna would be a smart signing for the newly promoted Newcastle United. The former Arsenal right-back is vastly experienced and is still good enough to play at the top level.
