Newcastle United are still yet to make a signing in January, despite Rafael Benitez’s desire for new additions.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez arrives before the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Cardiff City at St. James's Park, Newcastle on Saturday 19th January 2019.

According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez warned Mike Ashley about waiting until January for signings way back in the summer.

Newcastle only took limited action in the previous transfer window, despite Benitez’s desire to make signings.

The Magpies board reportedly felt that Newcastle would be better place in January to make signings.

However, they are finding that the market is over priced, and that is exactly what Benitez warned Ashley about.

The Spanish boss is now desperate for additions, but Newcastle are yet to make a signing this month.

And Benitez has reportedly offered an ultimatum to Newcastle’s board, such is his desire for funds.

Benitez’s contract at St. James’ Park expires at the end of the season, and it is said that he will not even sit down with Ashley or Lee Charnley to discuss new terms unless he is backed this month.

Benitez desperately wants to sign Miguel Almiron, but Newcastle are a long way off agreeing a deal with Atlanta United as things stand.
