The Chronicle claim that Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is privately hoping that Kenedy’s form will be improved from now until the end of the season.

Kenedy has not started a Premier League match for Newcastle in 2019, with the Brazilian simply a back-up option right now.

The Chelsea loanee has previously proven he can be a huge threat in a Newcastle shirt, but his form has not been up to scratch for much of the campaign.

However, Benitez is said to believe that Newcastle’s business in the January transfer window could snap Kenedy out of his slumber.

Newcastle signed both Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca, to increase competition for places at St. James’ Park.

And Benitez is hoping that his additions can inspire Kenedy to pick up his game to force his way back into Newcastle’s line-up.

Newcastle are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
