According to a report in the Daily Mail, Rafael Benitez and Mike Ashley’s relationship has not broken down over Newcastle United’s failure to sign Daniel Sturridge.

However, the Mail claims that Benitez has totally accepted missing out on the England international.

The terms of the deal changed when West Brom came in for Sturridge, and Benitez accepted that the transfer became a very expensive option.

Newcastle are still on the hunt for a striker, but their attempts have proved fruitless so far.
