Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is hoping to be backed with funds in the summer transfer window.

Rafael Benitez rates both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and James Maddison, according to the Chronicle, and if either were brought to St. James’ Park they would be wonderful additions.

Newcastle would be hard pressed to agree a deal for either Loftus-Cheek or Maddison, but if Mike Ashley does back Benitez with funds the pair could be on the Spaniard’s wishlist.

Loftus-Cheek would arguably be the more interesting of the two potential arrivals, as he has enjoyed a wonderful season on loan at Crystal Palace.

There has been talk of Loftus-Cheek returning to Chelsea to perform a role, but the London club have rarely given opportunities to their prized prospects.

And if Loftus-Cheek was to arrive at Newcastle he would surely be a permanent starter.

Maddison, meanwhile, has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at Championship level with Norwich City.

The 21-year-old has blasted in 14 goals and provided eight assists for Norwich, and is now regarded as one of the finest play makers outside the top flight.

Maddison is valued at £25 million by Norwich, according to The Sun, which could prove problematic for Newcastle, but if they could do a deal he would also be a fantastic addition to Benitez’s squad.
