Newcastle United appear to have stepped up their bid for Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge.

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Sturridge for some time, and it seems that Rafael Benitez’s side have now firmed up their interest.
Sturridge could be available this month, as he has struggled to feature regularly for Liverpool throughout the campaign to date.

Newcastle are looking for a forward who could fire them away from the drop zone, and Sturridge is thought to be a potential target.
Whether the Magpies would be able to fund the England international’s wages remains to be seen, but he is a name on Benitez’s wishlist.

Newcastle also have other striking options, with Troy Deeney, Danny Ings and Diafra Sakho also being considered.
If Sturridge was to join Newcastle he would surely go straight into Benitez’s first-team, after Joselu’s, Ayoze Perez’s and Dwight Gayle’s struggles in front of goal this season.
