Newcastle United have reportedly asked about the 24-goal striker.

According to The Daily Mail’s Transfer Zone (entry posted at 15:06 on August 30), Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have asked Besiktas about signing Cenk Tosun.
The 26-year-old striker scored 24 goals for the Turkish giants last season and, according to The Mail, might have interested Newcastle and Palace.

The Magpies might be in the market for another marksman before tomorrow’s deadline day after Rafael Benitez slapped an £18 million price-tag on Dwight Gayle, say The Telegraph.
Gayle’s role at St James’s Park is arguably diminished by the fact that Joselu – a summer signing from Stoke – and Aleksandar Mitrovic both scored in Saturday’s 3-0 demolition of West Ham United and Tosun might be the man to replace him.

Tosun has five goals in 18 appearances for Turkey and Palace also need a prolific figure to help dig them out of the mire.
The Eagles sit second from bottom in the Premier League with zero points out of a possible nine following a horrendous start to life under Frank de Boer, whose side haven’t even scored a goal.
Tosun, valued at around £8.3 million according to Transfermarkt, is contracted to Besiktas until 2019.
