Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion are tracking Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Conor Coady, according to the Sun.

Coady has impressed for Wolves this season and recently signed a new long-term deal at Molineux, following interest from Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Liverpool while Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez was in charge at Anfield, although he never made a first team appearance under the Spaniard.

Newcastle were also credited with interest in Coady, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, at the start of last season, as reported by Talksport at the time.

However, both they and West Brom face a difficult ask to prise Coady away from Wolves, given the Molineux side’s status as Championship leaders.

And given the rivalry between them, West Brom are perhaps the last club Wolves would want to sell him to.

Coady, who has also worn the captain’s armband under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo, was one of two Wolves players to miss penalties in Tuesday night’s shootout defeat against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
