According to Foot Mercato, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are interested in signing Abderrazak Hamdallah from Al-Nassr in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Hamdallah has a release clause of €18 million (£15.91 million) and is under contract at his club until 2022.
However, according to the report, Newcastle and Villa both are facing a problem in their quest to secure the services of the 29-year-old striker.
There will be issues getting a work permit for the striker, with him having retired from international duty with Morocco in November 2019, and rules state that he should have played 75% of his nation’s matches in the last three years to qualify, according to the report.
It has been added that Newcastle and Villa are trying to find a solution to this problem.
Risking signing?
While Hamdallah is a very good striker, the reported release clause of €18 million (£15.91 million) does seem a bit too much for a 29-year-old who is 29 years of age and had limited experience of European football with Aalesunds FK back in 2013.
While the striker has scored goals regularly in China, Qatar and Saudi Arabia since then, amid the economic uncertainty caused by the global health crisis, perhaps the Magpies and the Villans should look at a younger striker with a bit more experience in Europe.
