The Magpies have rejected the Eagles’ offer for the Welsh international.
Newcastle United have turned down a late offer from Crystal Palace for left-back Paul Dummett, the Chronicle reports.
The Magpies have had a busy summer transfer window, signings 11 players before the start of deadline day and allowing 15 first-team players to leave either permanently or loan.
However, it appears that one man they are not keen on allowing through the exit door is left-back Paul Dummett.
The Chronicle reports that Crystal Palace made an approach for the Wales international in the 48 hours leading up to deadline day, but that the offer was knocked back by the Magpies.
The paper suggests that the Eagles offered around £4.5 million for the defender as Alan Pardew looked to reunite with his former young star.
Dummett has been a man in demand on occasion this summer, having also been linked with West Brom as clubs look to take advantage of Newcastle’s summer of refurbishment by poaching the 24-year-old.
However, despite the signing of Achraf Lazaar in recent days, Newcastle are fairly light on left-back options and with Dummett an important man in their squad it is unlikely that Rafael Benitez would sanction his departure.
Dummett has missed just one of the Magpies’ first four Championship fixtures of the season, and looks set to remain at St. James’ Park and compete with Lazaar for the first-choice left-back spot.
