Newcastle United are reportedly set to move for a new striker.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United will be making a move for a new striker in the coming days after Papiss Cisse joined Shandong Luneng earlier today.
Cisse, 31, brought a four-and-a-half year spell at St. James’ Park to an end today by heading to China, leaving Newcastle will something of a hole to fill in attack.
The Magpies have already signed Dwight Gayle in a big-money move from Crystal Palace this summer, and a potential partnership with burly Serbian hitman Aleksandar Mitrovic looks dangerous ahead of the club’s Championship campaign.
Manager Rafael Benitez also has fellow Spaniard Ayoze Perez in attack, whilst youngster Adam Armstrong returns with high hopes following a loan spell with Coventry City in League One.
However, with out-of-favour striker Emmanuel Rivere attracting interest from Nancy back in his native France, Newcastle are still looking for attacking reinforcements – and a move may not be far away.
The Chronicle report that Benitez and Newcastle are set to make a move for a new striker in the coming days, as he pursues attacking cover for the likes of Mitrovic, Gayle and Perez.
That would suggest that youngster Armstrong may not have a huge role next season, or that Perez will primarily play as an attacking midfielder or winger next season.
With plenty of money already spent and more seemingly to come, Newcastle are cementing themselves as the favourites for the Championship title – and another new striker will only boost Benitez’s chances of leading the Magpies to promotion again.
