Newcastle United will make a last ditch attempt to sign Nicolas Tagliafico.
According to reports from Argentine publication Diario Ole, Newcastle will make one last attempt to lure Independiente left-back Nicolas Tagliafico to St James’ Park before Thursday’s deadline.
Last week, The Chronicle reported that the Magpies were negotiating a deal for the highly rated Argentine left-back.
The newspaper sourced highly-reliable journalist and Argentinian football writer Peter Coates, who claimed that Newcastle were negotiating over a €4M (£3.70 million) move for the 24-year-old.
The player’s agent, Ricardo Schlieper confirmed interest from the Magpies, but added that a move to Newcastle is ‘complex’.
Tagliafico is a highly rated defender in Argentina, and getting him at such a reasonable price would be an excellent signing from the Magpies.
Ole claims that Newcastle could still make a move for the Argentine on the deadline day.
The Spaniard is keen to add another full-back before the window closes after an injury to Paul Dummett.
However, with time running out, Newcastle will have to move quickly and act smartly if they are to have any chance of pulling this deal through.
