According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are poised to finally tie up the loan signing of Chelsea wing back Kenedy during the upcoming January transfer window.

The Magpies slipped to another defeat over the weekend, losing 1-0 at Arsenal to make it eight defeats in their last nine Premier League games.

Rafael Benitez is in desperate need of reinforcements during the January transfer window, and he may be restricted to bargain signings as confusion surrounds the club’s takeover.

Now, the Daily Mail report that Benitez could be on the verge of landing one of his summer targets, with Chelsea’s Kenedy understood to be nearing a loan move to Tyneside.

Benitez wanted to land the Brazilian youngster during the last transfer window but his attempts fell short, with a new move seemingly nearing completion.

Kenedy, 21, joined Chelsea from Fluminense in 2015, but has made just 25 first-team appearances for the Blues, notching only three goals.

Formerly a winger but now more of a left back or left wing back, Kenedy spent part of last season on loan at Watford before being sent back to Chelsea.

With no Premier League appearances this season, Kenedy needs playing time, and finally completing his move to Newcastle should give him that opportunity given Benitez’s struggles with that position this season.
