According to The Sunday Mirror (20/12, p71), Newcastle United will rival Tottenham Hotspur for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray in January.
It’s claimed that Gray is a man in demand ahead of the transfer window, given that he is heading towards the final six months of his Leicester contract.
Gray hasn’t played a single Premier League game this season, with Brendan Rodgers seemingly ready for him to go in January.
Leicester seemingly won’t be short of suitors, with Tottenham holding a long-standing interest in the winger back to his Birmingham City days.
Add in that he is another homegrown player for squad registration, and Gray could be an option to offer depth out wide behind Son Heung-min on the left flank.
Other clubs are keen too, with Newcastle United interested whilst Brighton and Hove Albion could offer him a move to the Amex Stadium.

However, Gray doesn’t want to risk playing in the Championship next season, and may bide his time to wait for the right offer rather than immediately joining a relegation-threatened club.
Clubs in Italy and Germany are also interested, but if Spurs come calling, Gray would surely be tempted by a move to join Jose Mourinho’s men.
