Leeds – who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from Championship – are in the running to sign Holding, but Newcastle are confident that they are leading the race for the 24-year-old centre-back, according to the report.
The report has added that the Magpies want to secure the services of the former Bolton Wanderers man on a season-long loan deal.
90min has also claimed that Newcastle are also confident of signing free agent and Scotland international winger Ryan Fraser, Holding and Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson in the coming weeks.
Big decision to make
Holding has had injury problems during his time at Arsenal, and his playing time at the Gunners has been limited.
With Gabriel having joined the North London outfit from Lille this summer, it is going to be even harder for the 24-year-old to get into the starting lineup next season.
It will be quite a big decision for Holding to leave Arsenal on loan this summer.
