According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United now think that Joe Willock wants to stay with the club rather than go back to Arsenal.
It’s claimed that Arsenal are insisting that Willock returns this summer, but it’s now believed that the midfielder wants to stay.
The 21-year-old doesn’t want to go and sit on the bench again at Arsenal having excelled on loan with the Magpies since his January move.
By scoring against Sheffield United in midweek, Willock has now remarkably scored six goals in his last six games for the Magpies.
That’s now seven goals in 13 games at Newcastle for Willock, and Steve Bruce will allegedly ‘push’ Mike Ashley in transfer meetings to pay up for new recruits – including Willock.
Ashley hasn’t been the biggest spender, and Willock will surely cost at least £20million to prise away from Arsenal.

Arsenal likely still have high hopes for Willock, but they need to fund their own business and Willock isn’t going to be happy to sit kicking his heels at the Emirates Stadium.
Newcastle appear to have real hope of getting a deal done, and that would be quite the signing – though it may take a while to get a deal done with Mikel Arteta surely keen to see Willock in pre-season training.
