Newcastle United were previously priced out of a move for Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw.

The Sun reports that the Magpies were keen on Shaw, but were initially priced out of a move for the left-back with United wanting £20 million for the player that they signed for £30 million from Southampton.

However, perhaps there is the slightest chance that Rafa Benitez may be tempted to make some kind of bid next month as it appears that United are determined to move Shaw on in some capacity.

While there is undoubtedly a long way to go before a move to Newcastle becomes possible, the fact that United appear so keen to move him off their books is surely an encouraging sign.
Though Shaw’s time at Old Trafford has not exactly gone to plan, he arguably has the quality to help the Magpies try and drag themselves away from danger in the top flight – so any kind of deal would undoubtedly be a boost during the January window, so with Manchester United seemingly more than willing to consider potential options that lead to his departure, perhaps Benitez should do all he can to make sure Newcastle try their luck with a bid when the window opens.
