Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly on Newcastle United’s radar, and his exit could apparently be about to become more likely.
Rodgers has enjoyed a remarkable amount of success with the Hoops, winning seven domestic trophies out of seven since his arrival. And his time with the Bhoys has not gone unnoticed.
And The Sun on Sunday suggests that his exit has now become ‘more probable’, with Head of Recruitment Congerton and chief scout Doherty apparently likely to quit, with Anderlecht interested in both men.
The report claims that Rodgers is losing two of his key allies amongst the backroom setup at Celtic, and that could seemingly open the door slightly further for a potential exit.
Although the Hoops would have preferred to maintain their recent excellent record against their Old Firm rivals, the defeat on Saturday could have some benefits with the January transfer window days from opening.
Rodgers can clearly argue to the board that he needs new players that are going to help the Hoops shut the door on a title race, especially as they also have European football to look forward to in the second-half of the season.
If he receives that backing, then perhaps that would go a long way towards convincing Rodgers that he does not need to think about leaving anytime soon.
