Newcastle have been linked with a move for the Hamburg youngster for much of the summer.
The Toon have been linked with a move for the 17-year-old flyer for much of the summer after he made his debut for Hamburg in a 6-0 loss to Bayern Munich earlier in the Bundesliga campaign.
It was believed that Vagnoman would leave the club at the end of the season, but the Germany Under-18 international has performed a significant u-turn that sees the defender reject Newcastle’s offer.
The report claims Rafa Benitez’s side offered Vagnoman just over £4.6million over three years, which equates to about £30,000 a week – a huge fee for someone who was born in December 2000.
However, the Toon are now set to miss out on Vagnoman, as are Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, because Vagnoman is now willing to sign a new contract at Hamburg despite the club’s relegation.
Vagnoman will see his contract, which is set to expire at the end of next season, extended for a further two years until the summer of 2021. His trust in new Hamburg manager Christian Titz is said to have convinced him to stay.
