According to A Spor, Newcastle have submitted a €17m (£14m) bid to Fenerbahçe in an attempt to sign Altay Bayindir.
What’s the story?
Well, the Turkish news outlet believe Steve Bruce wants a new No.1 on Tyneside, and is looking to replace both Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow.
The Magpies are said to be insistent on the signing of Bayindir.
However, they will have to up their offer if they are to land the 23-year-old, as A Spor are claiming that Fenerbahçe want more money.
Bayindir has made 12 appearances for the Turkish giants this season, in which he has kept four clean sheets and conceded 12 goals.
He is tied to Fenerbahçe until June 2023.
In our view, if he decides not to sign a new contract, he may have to be sold this summer unless Fenerbahçe want to risk losing him for nothing.
Could Newcastle face competition from Tottenham?

Back in September 2020, Fanatik revealed that Tottenham had started talks with Fenerbahçe over a deal for Bayindir.
It was said that José Mourinho was trying to find a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.
Now, Nuno Espirito Santo holds the reins in N17, so it’s unknown if Bayindir is still a target – however, the goalkeeping situation is basically the same.

Lloris is still in between the sticks, and his heir is unknown.
Pierluigi Gollini was signed on a season-long loan from Atalanta, with an option to buy included, although it remains to be seen if Spurs activate the clause.
Keep an eye on this saga, as Bayindir seems like a very bright goalkeeping talent who’s already on the radar of Premier League clubs.
