Newcastle United had scouts looking at Cenk Tosun on Monday, while a number of their Premier League rivals have also been linked.

Tosun has been excellent since the start of last season, having scored 25 goals in 43 league games for the Turkish outfit, and unsurprisingly, his form has attracted plenty of attention.

According to the Mail, Newcastle had scouts in attendance for Turkey’s international friendly with Albania on Monday night, and they would have undoubtedly been impressed by what they saw – despite Tosun coming out on the losing side.

The forward provided the assist for both of Turkey’s goals in the game, so it would be no surprise if the Newcastle scouts went away from the contest with fairly positive reports.
They will surely have to be extremely positive reports however, if Newcastle fans hope to see Tosun at St James’ Park anytime soon, as the Mail reports that Besiktas want £18 million for their star striker before they let him leave, so Rafa Benitez may be looking for as full a picture regarding Tosun’s attributes as possible before he considers sanctioning such a substantial move.
