Members of Newcastle United’s staff feel that Shola Ameobi has spoken too soon about a potential takeover, according to the Chronicle.
Ameobi, who works as Newcastle’s loan manager, excited supporters when he went on record to suggest that the takeover could go through soon.
“The fans want to see investment poured into the club and if this does go ahead, there is a real excitement and buzz as to how and what could happen going forward,” he said to Sky Sports.
Ameobi’s comments were off message from most inside Newcastle, who have been very quiet over the takeover talk.
And the Chronicle suggest that many people within Newcastle feel that Ameobi spoke far too soon.
The Magpies are seemingly determined not to excite supporters too much, while uncertainty still lingers over their potential new owners.

Although it does seem most likely that the takeover will go through, it is not quite guaranteed.
Newcastle supporters have been waiting for the deal to be officially ratified by the Premier League for some time, but it seems that they will have to stay patient.
The Guardian have reported that new information has been passed to the Premier League, which could delay any official confirmation of the Newcastle takeover from happening.
