Newcastle United are set to make their move for Bertrand Traore in the coming days, when Lyon’s Champions League campaign is finished, the Northern Echo report.
Newcastle scouts have been impressed by Traore’s ability, despite a rather indifferent campaign most recently with Lyon.
The winger has struggled for game time with the French side, but Newcastle’s recruitment staff still think that he could be a fine addition.
The Magpies have had success buying from France recently, with Allan Saint Maximin proving to be a huge hit, and there are hopes that Traore could follow in his footsteps.
Traore is arguably not as skilled a dribbler as Saint-Maximin, but the £9 million forward does possess a huge amount of pace, and could increase Newcastle’s threat on the counter attack.

The Magpies are now just waiting for Lyon’s Champions League campaign to end.
Lyon shocked Juventus in the last round of the competition to set up a tie with Manchester City on Saturday.
If Lyon do lose that match, then Newcastle could make a move for Traore before the weekend closes, as they are keen to bring the Burkina Faso international to St. James’ Park.
