Newcastle United have reportedly tried and failed to sign Stanley N’Soki on loan.

According to French publication RMC Sport, Newcastle United have been rebuffed by Paris Saint-Germain in their efforts to sign Stanley N’Soki on loan.

The Chronicle claimed earlier this week that Newcastle had scouted the 19-year-old left-back, who has made nine Ligue 1 appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season.

And now it seems that the Magpies have taken it one step further by making an offer, but it was turned down, according to RMC Sport in France.

But the report adds that N’Soki ‘likes’ Newcastle, who also tried to bring him to St James’s Park last summer.

Rafael Benitez’s long-standing reported interest in the young defender – who can also play centre-back – stands United in good stead, but time will tell whether it amounts to anything.

There are only five days left in the January transfer window and relegation-threatened Newcastle are yet to sign anybody this month.

A lot could hinge on whether Benitez is backed by owner Mike Ashley, amid reports from The Telegraph that the Spaniard will walk away when his contract expires this summer if the businessman does not invest this month.

Benitez’s side are only two points above the drop zone in 17th place.
