Newcastle United continue to be linked with Miguel Almiron.

According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United sent scouts to Georgia last weekend in order to watch Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron in action.
The Magpies will be hoping for January additions even after two wins in a row, and Rafael Benitez has been looking for a star playmaker for some time now.
A host of names have been linked with filling that role since Newcastle’s return to the Premier League, and Almiron is the latest name linked.
Almiron’s agent was at St James’ Park last weekend to watch Newcastle beat Bournemouth 2-1, sparking rumours of a January move for the Paraguayan star – and The Northern Echo claim Newcastle watched him in action just 24 hours later.
Atlanta United took on New York City FC in the Eastern Conference Playoffs last Sunday, and claimed a 3-1 victory, securing a 4-1 aggregate win and a game against New York Red Bulls next up after the international break.
In that 3-1 win last week, Almiron starred again, and scored a stunning free kick to make it 2-0, with Newcastle surely impressed with what he had to offer.

Almiron, 24, starred with Cerro Porteno and Lanus in South America before heading to MLS with Atlanta United, and has hit 13 goals and 13 assists this season.
A speedy playmaker with a superb left foot, Almiron would be a superb coup for Newcastle in January, but they would surely have to break their transfer record to sign him – and it remains to be seen whether Mike Ashley would back such a move in 2019.
