According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United scout Mick Tait has been watching Roma striker Patrik Schick ‘extensively’ ahead of a possible move.

It’s claimed that Steve Bruce and co have been looking for a potential striker signing, and Schick is one player they are strongly considering.

Tait has been looking at him very closely, pushing Newcastle’s interest in the Czech Republic international ahead of the summer transfer window.

Roma would allegedly want around £22million for Schick. He is on loan at Champions League quarter-finalists RB Leipzig this season, who have yet to really push for a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old has hit 10 goals and three assists for Leipzig in a decent campaign, but he may end up in England rather than the Bundesliga.

Schick is an impressive all-round forward, as he’s a decent focal point in attack whilst being technically strong and dangerous in tight areas, even if he isn’t particularly quick.

Newcastle would surely be able to pay the £22million if their takeover finally materialises, though it may become very difficult without new ownership.

The Magpies saw Joelinton score just his second Premier League goal on Sunday, but it’s unlikely to be enough to stop Newcastle from targeting a new hitman.

If Tait gets his way, that man may just be Schick.
