According to a report from the Daily Mail, Newcastle and Fulham are amongst the group of sides keen on signing Michal Travnik during the January transfer window.

Travnik is enjoying an excellent season with Jablonec, scoring 10 goals in all competitions, including two in the Europa League. He also provided two assists in six appearances in the competition.

The Daily Mail reports that the 24-year-old is now being pursued by a number of clubs, with the Magpies and Fulham both keen to bring him to the Premier League.

The report names CSKA Moscow and Augsburg as being Travnik’s other admirers, while it is suggested that he will cost just £4 million.

He is a goalscoring midfielder who now has a handful of international caps for the Czech Republic after making his debut earlier this year. For £4 million, he may prove to be an extremely shrewd addition to their options in the middle of the park.

Kenedy is the only midfielder in Rafa Benitez’s squad to have scored a Premier League goal this season, so perhaps Travnik could be the kind of signing that fills an important void at St James’ Park.
