Newcastle United are keen to bring Kenedy to St James’ Park on a permanent basis.

While not mathematically safe yet, only the most ridiculous run of results could see Rafa Benitez’s men face any kind of danger of being dragged back towards the bottom three. The Magpies’ 2-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend leaves the club 13 points clear of the bottom three with 15 to play for.

It is a remarkable achievement from Newcastle, and Benitez appears to be keen to celebrate their season by getting stuck into their summer plans as soon as possible, with the Northern Echo reporting that the club will now reach out to Chelsea about the possibility of signing the £6.3 million winger on a permanent basis.

Potential perfect start to the summer for Newcastle?
Based on the frustrations of previous windows, Benitez and the Newcastle fans may be reluctant to get their hopes over signing Kenedy on a permanent basis up – but it would undoubtedly be a fantastic move if the Magpies could get something done.
Kenedy has adapted superbly since arriving on loan, and getting the winger to sign permanently would be a fantastic boost to their squad and a brilliant statement regarding their ambitions for what is almost certainly going to be a second year at the highest level.
