According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are now ready to make a move for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, who is also a target for Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, the Daily Mail believe the £29m man is almost certain to leave Chelsea this summer, after the UK Government sanctioned Roman Abramovich.
Rudiger’s contract expires in June, and despite verbally agreeing to a new three-year deal worth £200,000-a-week, it cannot be processed.
Chelsea are currently unable to execute any financial deals due to Abramovich’s sanction, so as things stand, the German will leave on a free transfer.
That has alerted Newcastle, who – along with Manchester United – are now ready to make a move for the 29-year-old.
It was Eurosport who revealed that Liverpool are also looking to take advantage of Chelsea by making a move for Rudiger.
Antonio Rudiger should choose Newcastle over Liverpool

In our view, Rudiger should opt to join the Magpies instead of the Reds, if he really does end up having to leave Chelsea this summer.
At Anfield, the Germany international would surely be rotated heavily by Jürgen Klopp, who already has Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.
However, at Newcastle, he would be the star man under Eddie Howe.

The Magpies are in need of more quality at the back, as Howe looks to improve his options – the 44-year-old currently has the likes of Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez to choose from.
Keep an eye on this saga, as it will be interesting to see what happens with Rudiger and Chelsea over the next few weeks.
