According to El Nacional, Newcastle have set €30m (£25m) aside for Real Madrid maestro Toni Kroos, as the Magpies prepare to make a bid.
What’s the story?
Well, this would be a phenomenal signing for Newcastle.
El Nacional believe Mohammad Bin Salman is desperate to bring the 106-cap Germany international and World Cup winner to Tyneside.
The Spanish news outlet add that Newcastle consider Kroos to be vital in kickstarting the overhaul at St James’ Park.
Interestingly, the 31-year-old would usually be deemed untouchable, although his contract situation could make him obtainable.
Kroos becomes a free agent in June 2023, and if he refuses to sign a new contract, Real Madrid would be minded to sell him in 2022.
If they don’t, Los Blancos risk losing the man with 117 appearances in the Champions League for nothing.
Toni Kroos would be a remarkable signing for Newcastle

You can probably count the amount of midfielders who are better than Kroos right now on one hand – he is that good.
The German has won the Champions League on four occasions, while he was also named German Player of the Year in 2018.
His trophy cabinet goes on – the amount of silverware Kroos has won is quite incredible.
He has two La Liga titles to his name, as well as three Bundesliga titles, while he has also won the FIFA Club World Cup on five occasions.

Kroos also has four UEFA Super Cup winners medals, among a vast amount of domestic cup successes – he is among the most decorated players on the planet.
If the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and Amanda Staveley manage to convince him to swap Madrid for Tyneside, it would be special.
The world have already sat up and taken notice of Newcastle after the takeover, and more eyes would be on the Toon Army if Kroos joins the Magpies.
