Newcastle United are reportedly keen on West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian.
According to The Mirror, Newcastle United are interested in signing West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian as Joe Hart joins up with the Hammers.
Manchester City outcast Hart, 30, has been confirmed as a West Ham player after the two clubs agreed a season-long loan deal, and that means that Slaven Bilic faces some decisions in goal.
West Ham United’s Adrian looks dejected
Whilst England international Hart is expected to be West Ham’s first choice stopper, the futures of Adrian and Darren Randolph – the two goalkeepers who effectively shared the No. 1 role lst season – are now in question.
The Mirror now report that whilst Newcastle have an interest in Randolph, they are now pursuing a deal for Adrian too, as Rafael Benitez pursues a new goalkeeper of his own.
Adrian, 30, has been a regular for West Ham since joining from Real Betis in 2013, and whilst he has made more than 120 appearances for the club, he was dropped in favour of Randolph for a large part of last season.
The Spaniard now needs first-team football in order to stand a chance of featuring at the World Cup in Russia next summer, and compatriot Benitez could offer him an escape route at St. James’ Park.
West Ham’s Adrian celebrates
Newcastle missed out on Hart but could still benefit by signing Adrian, with Matz Sels loaned out to Anderlecht, Tim Krul surplus to requirements and Karl Darlow potentially heading for the exit too.
Whilst Adrian may fit the bill for Newcastle, it’s also claimed that Crystal Palace are keen on signing the goalkeeper too, meaning the Magpies will have to beat their Premier League rivals to his signature.
