According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are considering moves for Premier League strikers as Rafael Benitez continues to look for reinforcements.
The Magpies have brought in three new faces this summer, as Florian Lejeune, Javier Manquillo and Jacob Murphy have all arrived, whilst winger Christian Atsu’s loan move from Chelsea has been made permanent.

Newcastle’s first game back in the Premier League is just over two weeks away, and manager Benitez will be keen to add more new faces to his side – particularly in attack.
Whilst Dwight Gayle remains with the club heading into the new season, Daryl Murphy has been sold to Nottingham Forest, and The Chronicle report that Aleksandar Mitrovic and Emmanuel Riviere could both leave.
The report adds that Newcastle are considering loan moves for Premier League strikers, having already missed out on Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham earlier this summer.
A number of forwards out of favour at Premier League clubs will be looking for moves this summer, and here are three players who fit the bill perfectly for Newcastle right now.
Lucas Perez, Arsenal
Spanish attacker Perez may be a familiar name to compatriot Benitez, having smashed 24 goals in 59 games for Deportivo La Coruna. The 28-year-old had a decent record of seven goals in 21 appearances for Arsenal last season, but is completely out of favour following the signing of Alexandre Lacazette. Perez is almost certain to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, and having shown flashes of his quality at Arsenal, a loan deal view a view to buy could be ideal for Newcastle.
Liverpool’s Danny Ings
Danny Ings, Liverpool
Ings was once one of English football’s top young strikers during his superb spell with Burnley, but two major injuries have curtailed his impact at Liverpool following his 2015 move to Anfield. Now back in training and looking to hit full fitness again, Ings does find himself behind the likes of Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and new signing Dominic Solanke in the pecking order, meaning a loan move could suit him perfectly. At 25, Ings needs to be playing again, and Newcastle could offer him first-team football.
Shane Long, Southampton
Irish international Long has been a Premier League regular for the last six years, and whilst his goalscoring record isn’t exactly stellar, he is a proven top flight forward. Strong, quick and hard-working, Long can play out wide or up front and could be available given that Southampton also have Manolo Gabbiadini and Charlie Austin in their ranks. The 30-year-old may want first-team football, and much like Perez, a loan move with an option to buy could work well for all parties.
