Newcastle could now face a battle to keep Sean Longstaff at St James’ Park after he teamed up with super agent Pini Zahavi, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old has hired the 77-year-old, who the Daily Mail state will attempt to broker an exit from St James’ Park for his new client.
The Israeli negotiator has world-class names such as Robert Lewandowski and £200 million man Neymar Jr on his list of clients.
Interestingly, the Daily Mail mention that Zahavi has previously told those close to Longstaff that he could sort a move to Tottenham, and a fresh attempt to find a new club for the midfielder will be made if no new contract arises.
The Magpies academy graduate last penned a contract in 2018, which The Times believe was worth £25,000-a-week and would span for four years.
Zahavi is said to see potential in Longstaff, and the Daily Mail state that the 23-year-old has signed a 12-month agreement with the agent.
After showing such promise following his breakthrough under Rafa Benitez, the Newcastle-born playmaker has endured a stuttering campaign.
He has only started four Premier League games under Steve Bruce this season, where he’s struggling to nail down a consistent first-team place.
