Newcastle United look set to sell Ayoze Perez to Leicester City.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United will sell Ayoze Perez to Leicester City for £30million – but the money will be given to the club’s next manager.

It’s been a testing few days for Newcastle fans. Firstly, Rafael Benitez’s exit was confirmed last week after the club failed to agree a new contract with the Spaniard, before he headed off to China with Dalian Yifang.

Now, it seems that Perez – a Benitez favourite – is leaving too, with Leicester City some way down the line with a deal to lure the Spaniard away from St James’ Park.

The Daily Star had initially claimed that the deal would be £16million before updating the price to £30million, and The Chronicle back that claim up by suggesting the deal is £30million too.

Newcastle allegedly found the deal too good to turn down, and the club’s board will seemingly endeavour to plough the fee back into the club’s transfer budget for Benitez’s replacement, once Perez passes a medical and agrees terms.

That’s a major boost to the club’s transfer kitty, especially as they’ll be able to tempt potential managers in with a bigger budget than first planned.

Yet having lost Salomon Rondon and now Perez, Newcastle are without their top goalscorers from last season, and they’ll need to be replaced quickly ahead of the new season.

Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley absolutely must reinvest this money with quality additions, as Newcastle are taking hit after hit right now, and anything less than full backing for a new manager will lead to rising anger among Newcastle fans.
