Report: Newcastle optimistic of securing Kenedy deal this summer

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in re-signing Kenedy, and a report suggests that the club are optimistic about a potential deal.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (01/07; page 59), Newcastle are optimistic that the club will be bringing Kenedy back to St James’ Park for the coming season, with the Magpies already sorting out accommodation for the Brazilian.

Kenedy appears to be one of Rafa Benitez’s key targets for the summer after a stunning loan spell on Tyneside during the second-half of last season. The Chelsea-owned winger scored twice and provided two assists to help Newcastle put together a brilliant run of form that saw them move well clear of the bottom three and actually secure a top-half finish in the Premier League.

The Sun on Sunday reports that Newcastle are hoping to bring the 22-year-old back in some capacity next season and are now pushing his parent club over an answer regarding their bid.

The Sun on Sunday (01/07; page 59) adds that the Magpies have everything in place for a potential move to take place and have even sorted out where Kenedy will live if he returns to St James’ Park.

Kenedy undoubtedly made the Magpies a much more dangerous side. He was often the most exciting player on the park during a time where Newcastle’s form made it seem baffling that there had been so many previous concerns about relegation.

He not only provided quality, but he also added versatility. And if Benitez is working with a tight budget during this window, securing his return could be one of the best pieces of business that the Magpies could possibly do this summer. With almost everything seemingly in place, the pressure is perhaps now on to make sure that the move gets across the line, whether that be a loan deal or permanent move.
