Newcastle United have been listed as one of three clubs who have a shot at signing Neymar this summer following reports that the Brazilian superstar wants to leave PSG.
According to RMC Sport, the Magpies sit alongside Chelsea and Manchester United as the three sides who can ‘realistically’ sign the 30-year-old winger this summer, with Neymar’s future at PSG seemingly on the ropes following recent reports in the French and Spanish media.
As reported by L’Equipe, Neymar’s contract with PSG extends to 2027 on July 1st, however, both the player and the club are keen on a separation given the attacker’s performances last season and the French side’s huge investment on Kylian Mbappe for the next three years.
Which leads us, of all places, to Newcastle, where the PIF-backed Premier League side find themselves as one of the few sides in world football with the finances to sign Neymar, who earns a reported £600k-a-week, more than the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos at PSG.
Indeed, whilst Newcastle has the capacity to sign Neymar if their Saudi owners see fit, it is unlikely that the Toon will be the side to land the former FC Barcelona star given their lack of European football for next season as well as how little progress the club have actually made with their new wealth.
With Neymar one of the best players in the world, the attacker is unlikely to downgrade to Newcastle this summer, especially ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup where Brazil currently find themselves as the favourites to win the competition in Qatar.
Neymar to Newcastle is a fantasy, though it could happen in a few years

As mentioned, Newcastle are in their infancy in PIF’s quest to transform the historic English side into the new Manchester City or Chelsea of the division, and because of this, Neymar leaving PSG for the northeast is out of the question, at least for now.
After all, Newcastle could find themselves back in Europe as early as next season if they play their cards right, and if Neymar still wants to leave PSG, then the Magpies could launch an audacious offer to sign the attacker.
