Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Martin Skrtel this summer with his current club reportedly keen to move him off the books.

Skrtel has featured prominently since moving to Fener, but Fotomac reports that the club are interested in moving him on this summer with his contract set to expire at the end of next season. And it appears that his next destination could perhaps be a return to the Premier League.

Rafa Benitez will be eyeing an extremely productive window after a very encouraging return to the Premier League this past season. A superb second-half of the campaign saw the Magpies finish in the top-half of the table, but their relegation concerns during the campaign will leave Benitez in no doubt that there is plenty to do this summer.

Benitez, of course, signed Skrtel when he was in charge at Anfield 10 years ago, so perhaps the knowledge of the defender may tempt the Newcastle boss to consider a bid for him during the coming months.
He is perhaps not good enough to be a regular first-choice, but his experience would surely make him a very decent addition to consider targeting – especially with Fener seemingly willing to let him leave ahead of the final year of his deal.
