According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury.
It’s claimed that Leicester are willing to send Choudhury on loan for the second half of the season, and three Premier League clubs are potentially interested.
Newcastle are one of them, with Steve Bruce thought to be a ‘big fan’ of Choudhury, meaning the Magpies would make sense as a possible destination.
However, West Bromwich Albion are also interested, with Sam Allardyce keen to add a holding midfielder – but he can only sign one more domestic loan player.
Southampton have been offered a deal too having shown plenty of interest in Choudhury in the past, though breaking into the settled midfield of Oriol Romeu and James Ward-Prowse won’t be easy.
Choudhury, 23, has long been touted for a big future, but has played 70 minutes of Premier League football this season.
He clearly needs playing time away from Leicester right now, and a move to Newcastle would be somewhat interesting given his history with the Magpies.
Choudhury was booked for a rash challenge on Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie in August 2019, prompting Bruce to say that whilst Choudhury is a ‘very good player’, he needs to ‘be careful’ and change his ways in the tackle.
Bruce seemingly hasn’t been put off from signing Choudhury, and with Newcastle’s budget thin, signing him on loan could work well for all parties.
