Newcastle United now have a chance to sign Southampton striker Charlie Austin.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Southampton striker Charlie Austin as they look to get rid.
The Magpies signed one striker on Tuesday as Brazilian hitman Joelinton arrived in a club-record deal from Hoffenheim, but another centre forward may be needed.
Newcastle lost Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez from the end of last season, whilst Joselu has been offloaded to Spanish side Alaves.
With Joelinton having no Premier League experience, there are worse ideas than bringing in Austin, and it’s claimed that Southampton have offered him to the Magpies.
The Saints want shut of the 30-year-old after an alleged row with boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, and with one year left on his deal, he can go in a cut-price move.
That could be an appealing bargain for Newcastle, though Austin did only scored three times last season. What’s particularly interesting is Steve Bruce’s view of the player.

Bruce wanted to sign Austin for Hull City in 2013, telling Sky Sports that he felt that Austin is a ‘terrific’ player with a ‘fantastic’ attitude.
Bruce is clearly a huge fan of Austin, and the chance to add an experienced hitman alongside the talented youngster Joelinton could be a perfect mix at the right price.
