Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa on a £100,000-a-week, five-year deal, according to FC Inter News.

As soon as Jetro Willems hit the deck with a whimper, a cruciate ligament injury wrecking his season and bringing a premature end to his loan spell at St James’ Park, it became pretty much inevitable that the Magpies were set to be forced into the market once again.

Newcastle have struggled at left-back for a number of years now, with Willems perhaps the only man to fill the role convincingly since Davide Santon’s heyday almost a decade ago.

But it remains to be seen whether France international Kurzawa is an option that the north-east giants will genuinely consider.

The report claims that Kurzawa, who will be a free agent when his PSG contract expires in July, has been offered to Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester United. The five-time Ligue 1 champion wants a deal until the summer of 2025, which would see him take home a hefty £100,000-a-week.

That would see Kurzawa become Newcastle’s highest-earner, replacing the £70,000-a-week Jonjo Shelvey (Spotrac).

But, with Saudi billionaire Mohammed Bin Salman expected to complete his long-awaited takeover soon rather than later, money will soon be no object on Tyneside.
