Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Newcastle United have now been offered Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram ahead of the January window – amid reports he is a £10million target for both Arsenal and Tottenham.
Thuram, 25, has been in impeccable form for Gladbach this season. Clocking up 17 appearances, he has scored 13 goals and laid on four assists. However, the Italy-born attacker is out of contract at the end of the season at Gladbach.
Indeed, the France international will be sold by Gladbach in order to bring in some cash for his signature. That is, rather than losing him on a free transfer. 90Min report that Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle are all interested in Thuram.
Gladbach are said to want just £10million for him. Now, Jones says Thuram has actually been offered to Newcastle ahead of the January window. Whether that is the club offering Thuram to the Toon – or the player’s agents.
“Thuram has been offered to Newcastle for the next window. He’s somebody that they are willing to consider. They see that he holds good value at the price that’s been put to them,” Jones said this week, to Give Me Sport.

Jones: Newcastle offered Thuram amid Arsenal and Tottenham reports
What a signing he would be for most Premier League clubs. His form has been immense in German football, a player compared to that of Manchester United and fellow France international Anthony Martial. For £10million? A bargain.
Which of the clubs needs him most? Newcastle have Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak in the final third, as well as Chris Wood. Three decent options. They do not need another striker. Tottenham do, as back-up for Harry Kane.
Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. So of those three clubs, you would argue that Spurs need him most. But if any of the Premier League’s top six need him most – it is Manchester United, after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
