According to Le10 Sport, Newcastle United have offered Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly a contract worth €12million-a-year – around £200,000-a-week.
With the club’s takeover set to go through, imminent owners Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund will be looking to spend.
Big names are already being linked with Newcastle ahead of the takeover, and Napoli defender Koulibaly is one of the main names being mentioned right now.
It’s claimed that the Magpies have offered Koulibaly an unbelievable deal of around £200,000-a-week; money he may not find elsewhere given the ongoing pandemic.
Napoli look set to sell the 28-year-old defender this summer, and that kind of money may just be enough to turn the Senegal star’s head.
Signed by ex-Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez in 2014, Koulibaly has been a rock in the heart of the Napoli defence, and has established himself as one of the top centre backs in the world.

On Wednesday, Sky Sports reported that Koulibaly could be tempted by a move to Newcastle if the takeover goes ahead, with the money on offer potentially appealing.
Clubs with European football on offer may be keen too, but Newcastle’s new owners are seemingly putting up a real fight for Koulibaly’s signature with this huge offer.
