Newcastle are interested in signing Vitinha from Braga after his stunning start to the 2022/23 campaign.
That is according to O Jogo in Portugal, who believe Eddie Howe is keen to beat Southampton and Brentford to the 22-year-old’s signature.

Well, the Magpies could be sniffing around a striker set to become one of Europe’s best in future.
The Braga No.99 has been on fire so far this season, scoring nine goals while also providing five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.
Vitinha has particularly impressed in Europe, where he has netted four goals and set up another in just five Europa League games, with three of those coming as part of a 36-minute hat-trick in the 3-3 draw against Union SG.
O Jogo believe Braga are unlikely to sell their in-form striker during the January transfer window.
However, the Portuguese news outlet add that Vitinha has a release clause worth €30m (£26m) written into his contract, which is not a lot for the Magpies nowadays.
Newcastle should put Vitinha interest on ice
In our view, Howe should shelve his interest in Vitinha until the summer.
The Magpies are currently flying high in the Premier League, losing just one game from 15 as they sit third in the table.
Of course, Newcastle don’t want to lose momentum after January, so may be tempted to make a signing or two.
However, Alexander Isak will return from injury after the World Cup, which – if you’ll pardon the cliche – will feel just like a new arrival for Newcastle.
Furthermore, Howe would not want to put pressure on the Sweden international so soon after a serious injury by making him sweat about his position in the team, so a move for Vitinha doesn’t make much sense at this stage.
Nevertheless, be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as an approach from Southampton or Brentford might force Newcastle into action.
