In our view, Newcastle United should avoid signing Arthur Melo from Juventus, either on loan or on a permanent basis.
First of all, Juventus were fine with the Brazil international midfielder leaving on loan last summer.
That shows that the Italian giants did not think that he was good enough to be part of their first-team squad.
And Juve are now reportedly ready to offload him this summer.
Then there is the small matter of Arthur really struggling at Liverpool last season.
The former Barcelona midfielder was able to play only 13 minutes in the UEFA Champions League for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
That was it.
True, there were fitness issues, but that Arthur could not get into the team when he was fit is concerning.
Newcastle cannot afford to sign a player who did not play for an entire season.
